Hope you don't mind, but I found this picture last night and it just brings so much joy and also a bit of tears when I see how gorgeous my little daughter Sascha was after she caught her first Trout in the Sierras. Looks like a little Brook trout.....but I know it's a really big smile! If you get a chance, maybe you can put of some pics of your first trips or fish with your kids. Seems just like yesterday......

Sweeeet! I still have to take mine to catch her first fish.

She pulled one out at Saddlebag Lake this month, but it was on another guy's line. ...and we forgot to take pictures!

Your daughter is beautiful. She looks so proud of her first trout catch. You (and Steve C.) have beautiful daughters. I wish I would have taken the time to have children, what a blessing they must be and how full your lives must be helping and watching them grow. I can post pictures of my 3 Maltese, 2 cats, goldfish and koi. My cats were very proud of their first lizards and beetles they caught.

Wow what a cutie QS. Hate to mention that the trout looks a little below the legal size. Bet it tasted good anyways...lol
I kinda get sad looking at pictures when the kids were young and sweet. Now my son is 28 and out of state and my daughter 25 and married. They don't have much time for pops anymore. We did a picture DVD through the years for my daughters wedding 2 years ago and all my wife and I could do was look at all the memories captured on film, remember good times, and cry a lot.

My son Jackson at Lone Pine Lake, July 2009

He caught and released 5 golden and 3 rainbow. All fish swam away quite vigorously.

Joe, that shot of Sascha is a real keeper! What a sweetheart - but aren't they all at that age? I could spend hours getting lost in photos of Brianne's "adventures". For a 10 YO she's had quite a few. Here are a couple of those "milestones":

First fish in 2003, at age 3 - notice the snazzy Tigger rod/reel:

First real wilderness hike, in 2006 at age 6 - Appalachian Trail in northern Georgia:

First trip up the MMWT, this past July at age 10. Chilling at LPL:

Hanging with "Unkie Joe" at the Portal Store:

The kids first fishing trip in the Sierra... Aunt Laura showed them some tricks of the trade on LPL and then GirlChild helped clean and grill at the Portal...

Then this summer my boyfriend and I put our poles into some Sierra water for the first time....

I love seeing the family photos. You all have beautiful families. It's wonderful that you're all showing your children the beauty of the mountains and nature. Thanks for sharing.

This is an embarrassing fishing story.

When I was a teenager, my mom took me to the Columbia River to fish for Salmon. We were at the mouth of the river in a party boat. I knew I was going to catch big ones (yea, right), so I had heavy test line and double hooks. I put my line in and a Salmon hit right away. I tugged and tugged and it got away. Both hooks were bent near straight. I hooked another and same thing. I looked at my mom and she had three!!!!! I just couldn't get one. Then I saw my mom had another hookup. The limit for Salmon was THREE, so as she brought it up, she looked at me and said, "you wanna count this one as YOURS???" I never brought one in.
