Just read this article about an army vet who ran 4,425 miles cross-country (Astoria, Oregon to somewhere in Maine) in honor of his fellow soldiers who have fallen in Iraq.

It says he averaged 29 miles/day, and only stopped for 4 days the whole trip, having begun on May 1 and finished today.

Sorta makes the Badwater-to-Whitney run look like preschool playground recess by comparison.

If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracle of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it.
- Lyndon Johnson, on signing the Wilderness Act into law (1964)

You're not comparing apples to oranges, you're comparing apples to habanero peppers!

Next we'll prove a 100m race is preschool stuff next to a 5000m race.

Some years ago, I ran a marathon, and several times in my training runs, I ran into the same guy (no pun intended smirk ).

He had been running 25 miles every day for nearly a year! crazy
