I'll weigh in and echo the recommendation for the 60CSX. I've been using & testing a bunch of GPS units lately. Advantages of the CSX:

standard mini usb cable to computer. That's a huge advantage. Don't get anything that doesn't have a usb connection.

AA batteries. Unit is good at not using a lot of power. Can go for days in tracking mode @30 second intervals. New color screens are cool, but they drain the batteries (CSX still has color, just not as bright).

You can use their download & mapping software, but you can also use the free DNR Garmin that will convert to GPX, SHP,KML, TXT (Excel), & DBF

The interface seems pretty easy to use. Satellites lock in quickly after the first use. Durable construction; external antenna if you need it.
