I've been reading a few things about Hammer Perpetuum after learning the JMT record holder more or less used this and a few Clif bars exclusively to complete his trip, after failing with a different type of nutrition in previous attempts.

Perpetuum is to be taken in small doses as you go along, not for recovery after. It's mostly dextrose with all the other stuff you'd need. The "chewables" they make taste like chalk, so I'll be trying the drink mix next. Sounds like the ideal food for the 3-stops-per-hour to fuel up ritual.

The stuff is expensive, though. I may stick with gummi bears and chili chocolate. gotta like your food, too.
