Thanks again - this is great info! So just to clarify:

1) The westbound shortcut from the small lake north of Cottonwood lake #5 is not technical ? I am only worried because I may need to do that section very early in the morning, when it is still dark.

2) It is possible to descend from Langley towards Miter basin following the line west north-west that goes north of Major General and towards Primrose or Sky Blue lakes?

I love the idea of not using the same path to go and down Mt. Langley, and cutting off travel on established trails even further.

The bypass of sandy slopes on the way up Discovery Pinnacle sounds like a good option.
