My backup plan to Whitney in a week was Mt. Langley, but with Horseshoe Meadows Road now closed, that looks like it's probably out too. I wouldn't be surprised to wake up tomorrow to read that the whole forest is on fire...
Horseshoe Meadow is now open until around half a mile before the trailhead (the same closure that was in place last week):
