In 1999, I took a trip to a gallery in SOUTH Carolina. I had rented a car when I landed in NORTH Carolina, so I had NC license plates. While I was driving near Hilton Head, SC, two very angry looking men in a car pulled up next to Karyn and me and screamed some expletives about us being from North Carolina. After they passed, I said to Karyn, "I wonder what they would have said if they knew we were from California!"
