Yeppers, June 1st is but 62 days. I was at the Whitney Portal Ghost Town on 7/4/06 and have pictures of Bishop Pass area that particular weekend, which look like they were taken 2 months earlier. The previous weekend, I used crampons and axe to summit Mt. Baldy.
A lot of time and energy is going to be spent by these folks acquiring permits, air fare, rentals, clothing and gear they should be aware of what conditions can be like. I spoke to a woman in 2001 who flew out from Connecticut in June 1998 and never got beyond LPL because of snow...lotsa bucks but no Buck Rogers.
There is still a lot of time to gain experience to get a better margin of safety.
